The tides are turning at Cousins Beach, and it’s the beginning of the end for one of TV’s biggest love triangles.

It’s almost time to dive back into the drama with the third and final season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” which will be released Wednesday, July 16.

The television series, filmed in North Carolina, is based on Jenny Han’s best-selling romance trilogy following the ever-evolving relationships between a girl torn between two brothers.

Picking up from the last season nearly two years ago, the story continues a few years after their high school summers — with some parts of the Triangle.

“It’s the end of her junior year of college, and Belly’s looking forward to another summer in Cousins with her soulmate, Jeremiah,” the new season synopsis says. “Her future seems set, until some core-shaking events bring her first love Conrad back into her life. Now on the brink of adulthood, Belly finds herself at a crossroads and must decide which brother has her heart. Summer will never be the same.”

Like the previous two seasons, the new one was filmed along the Carolina coast in Wilmington, also known in the show as the iconic “Cousins Beach,” along with parts of UNC-Chapel Hill, The News & Observer previously reported.

Last summer, while most Tar Heel students were out for break, Lola Tung and Christopher Briney were spotted shooting scenes around the campus on Franklin Street.
